Tomasz Tomaszewski

One oft he best known Polish photographers, the member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers, The American Society of Magazine Photographers and two stock agencies: Visum Archiv in Hamburg, Germany and Image Collection in Washington, DC. Focused mostly on press photography, also teaches and gives lectures. Specialized in photography of people, however in his archives TT keeps also a number of beautiful landscapes.

 

He started as a photographer in 70’s, working for Polish magazines itd., Razem and Perspektywy. In times of Solidarity revolution in Poland he cooperated with various underground newspapers. His pictures have appeared in many major Polish and international magazines, including Stern, Paris Match, GEO, New York Times, Time, Fortune, Vogue, Die Zeit, and Elle. For over twenty years, he has consistently contributed to National Geographic Magazine, publishing 18 of his photo essays. Since 1999, serving the Polish edition of National Geographic as its general consultant.

 

Tomaszewski has published several books and albums, such as: Remnants - The Last Jews of Poland (text by Malgorzata Niezabitowska); In Search of America (text by Malgorzata Niezabitowska); Polish Gypsies (text by Jerzy Ficowski); In the Center, Astonishing Spain, A Stone’s Throw. His photographs illustrate over a dozen collective works.

He has exhibited in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Poland, and Madagascar. His works received many Polish and international photographic awards, including:
