Sicily, 2012

The Sicily project is a continuation of the Jacek Poremba’s photographic cykle named Landscapes .

The artist "discovered" Sicily just two years ago. The raw beauty of the island charmed him and inspired for an artistic exploration. Some of his experiences Poremba closed in a series of twenty-four black and white photographs, taking  the viewer to a journey through romantic landscapes of Sicily captured by Leica Monochrome camera, the world's first  35 mm format digital camera, recording only a monochrome images.

Jacek Poremba: Sicily is the perfect place for monochrome photography. Black slopes of Mount Etna, blindingly white marble mines and all the shades of gray in between. This incredible energy, resulting from the need to shoot in black and white caused that I completely forgot about shooting people .
